Hyperpigmentation is a condition that causes some parts of the skin to appear darker. It can be due to malasma, inflammation, aged spots, or even medical conditions.
Malasma(sunburn)usually appears on the face and it is caused by exposing the skin to the sun.
One thing I know for sure is that these skin issues affect the confidence of a person. It even leads to low self-esteem and deals with the mental health of people.
I feel like these things affecting mental health are not properly talked about. I’ve had a terrible experience with hyperpigmentation. It was very terrible, I lost interest in myself, found myself unattractive, and always didn’t feel like leaving the house. You see this thing called organic cream? run! It’ll destroy your skin, it ruined my skin. I kept going to different organic skincare vendors and my skin kept getting worse. A few weeks after I switched to scientifically/clinically formulated products, my face started getting better. My skin is not where I want it to be right now but It’s getting there gradually in a healthy way.
How to treat hyperpigmentation
Double cleanse twice daily.
Use skin-hydrating face wash or toner
Use products containing acids like kojic acid, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide to help rejuvenate and repair the skin.
Use serum or face cream containing Vitamin C to brighten and repair the skin.
Vitamin B3 alongside collagen is also a good choice to help with the appearance of the skin and repair the skin barrier.
Aloe Vera gel also helps to repair the skin gradually.
Use products with active ingredients only at night to avoid irritation.
Eat healthy meals, and include fruits and vegetables in your meals.
Use sunscreen every day.
See a dermatologist
One thing you should understand while treating hyperpigmentation is that it doesn’t disappear in a week or two. The changes are gradual, it could even take four to six months depending on how damaged your skin is. So while treating it, be optimistic and trust In what you’re using. You’ll get what you want out of it.
